Top 5 Small Business Podcasts For Solopreneurs, Entrepreneurs and More

Small Business podcasts are kicking off! There is a serious rejuvenation of this media.

I would say there are 5 outstanding podcasts out there for small businesses, solopreneurs, entrepreneurs and more at the moment.

If you’re like me, you may have listened to podcasts a while back. I used to scour the net for anything; music, sports and comedy in particular. It wasn’t until I recently stepped back into the ‘Applesphere’ (I’m sure I didn’t just coin that!) did I revisit the podcast.

What did I notice when I went back in? That the quantity and quality of business related podcasts, and in particular small business podcasts, was far superior to a few years ago.

When most of the internet is talking about video they almost forget that podcasts exist. That they represent a digestible, value driven, medium. Of course, you can download and listen on your mobile device so you don’t miss any of the quality that you may miss from video.

There are 5 small business podcasts for solopreneurs, entrepreneurs and more that I think stand out right now. (Note – these are in no particular order.)

1. Entrepreneur on Fire ~ John Lee Dumas

Website: http://www.entrepreneuronfire.com/

A daily (yes, 7 days a week!) podcast coming straight to your downloads every morning before you start your day. John Lee Dumas has reached great heights in just 1 year with over 400,000 downloads.

This podcast is an interview based podcast where John talks to leading entrepreneurs about their journey, success stories, failures and more.

The podcast is built to provide inspiration and insight to today’s entrepreneurs where you will learn some great tips and tricks to help you on your journey.

2. The Suitcase Entrepreneur ~ Natalie Sisson

Website: http://suitcaseentrepreneur.com/category/live/

A weekly podcast where Natalie Sisson shares her knowledge and interviews leading entrepreneurs to help listeners in their quest to master the internet and create the lifestyle they want.

If you don’t know Natalie, her whole business has been built and run on the road. She left a corporate job in New Zealand for the journey of entrepreneurship and headed to Canada. Since then she has created a brand that is reflected in her style on the show.

Personally, I feel The Suitcase Entrepreneur is one podcast in particular that is value driven that will leave you with clear actionable items to implement in your marketing.

3. The New Business Podcast ~ Chris Ducker

Website: http://www.chrisducker.com/new-business-podcast/

Chris Ducker gets recognized, not just because he’s a fellow Brit (!), but also because this energized podcast brings weekly insights like no other.

Chris owns a successful outsourcing company in the Philippines, where he lives, so not only brings value from his personal experience but also from guest hosts.

The podcast is what it is because Chris is genuine in his quest for knowledge. He’ll ask his guest questions that you would want to know the answers to. For example, in a recent episode he spoke with Jay Baer (New York Times best selling author) and broke down the book launch into micro steps so you or I could, with confidence, launch a book with success.

4. The Solopreneur Hour ~ Michael O’Neal

Website: http://solopreneurhour.com/

This is a new one and Michael O’Neal has hit the ground running!

Michael has experience in the world of podcasts from being a producer on another show. Before that, he focused his attention on helping internet marketers.

This podcast comes out 2 or 3 times a week at the moment and is an interview based show. The difference? He invites his guest as ‘co-hosts’ and may have them back more than one time. For me, this works. It gives us the chance to learn from a group of experts and implementing their advice.

The show is well edited and has a laid back, value add approach. If you’re a solopreneur and/or looking to boost your internet marketing results, this is worth a listen.

5. Blogcast FM ~ Srinivas Rao

Website: http://blogcastfm.com/blogcastfm/

Blogcast FM brings it all several times a week in this interview led podcast.

There’s nothing more to say about this podcast except listen! Srinivas has a great style and really helps his guests open up and share practical advice about social media, online marketing, content creation and entrepreneurship.

In summary: subscribe to them all. You will probably find that you will be searching for podcasts to listen to once you’ve started. I could (and maybe should) have mentioned some other podcasts that I subscribe to. Perhaps I’ll expand the list.

ITunes can be a minefield when searching for podcasts. Aside from the ‘New & Noteworthy’ and ‘What’s Hot’ highlighted shows if you search for topics you will find 100’s of podcasts that haven’t had new content in months, if not years.

That’s why I wanted to share this short list for you. (Plus, I like giving credit where credit’s due and these entrepreneurs deserve it!)

Question: What podcasts would you add to the list and why?
